Apple is reportedly advancing a three-year iPhone roadmap to redesign hardware, launch a foldable, and deliver a 20th-anniversary model

Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman says Apple is pushing a three-year plan aimed at redefining the iPhone from both hardware and form-factor perspectives.

The timeline described in the report starts with 2025, when Apple introduced a redesigned iPhone 17 Pro line and a new iPhone Air model, setting up the first phase of the broader strategy.

The second phase is expected in 2026, with Apple reportedly preparing its first large foldable iPhone, a device said to open like a book and target stronger use cases for gaming, video, and multitasking.

The same report suggests iOS 27 could add foldable-specific experiences such as split-screen app use and iPad-style multitasking behavior, which would be central to the product pitch.

Hardware rumors attached to the foldable include a roughly 7.7-inch inner display, a 5.3-inch outer display, a side-mounted Touch ID power button, and a camera setup with dual rear sensors plus one front camera.

For 2027, Apple is said to be targeting a milestone 20th-anniversary iPhone with a more aggressive design language, including an all-screen front, curved glass body elements, and an under-display camera concept.

Even so, the report cautions that the most ambitious parts of that design may still face execution risk, so final implementation could shift depending on engineering progress and manufacturing readiness.

Taken together, the roadmap outlines a clear three-step progression: refresh current designs, expand into new device forms with a foldable iPhone, and then pursue a more radical long-term flagship concept.
