Bigme has officially introduced the Bigme HiBreak Plus, a new entry-level color E Ink phone that mixes smartphone basics with handwriting features. According to the company, the device is now on presale for 1,699 yuan, which works out to about $233 at current exchange rates.
The core pitch is pretty straightforward. Bigme says the Bigme HiBreak Plus offers a color display with a refresh rate of up to 52 frames per second, along with an automatic ghosting-reduction system meant to keep the screen cleaner during everyday use. That matters on E Ink hardware, where poor refresh behavior can make a device feel sluggish fast.
Battery size is decent for this category as well. The phone includes a 4,500mAh battery and supports full-network 4G with dual-SIM dual-standby. On paper, that gives it a more practical phone-first setup than some niche e-paper devices that feel closer to companion gadgets than real daily drivers.
Bigme is also leaning into the writing angle. The phone has a 6.13-inch screen, ships with Android 14, and supports app installation, while an official stylus adds features such as an unlimited canvas for note-taking and sketching. For users who want a lighter-distraction device without giving up Android apps entirely, that could end up being the main selling point.
As for the hardware platform, the company confirmed in its comments section that the phone uses the MTK6765 chip. That is not a high-end processor by any stretch, but it fits the product positioning here. This looks less like a performance phone and more like a niche device aimed at readers, note-takers, and buyers curious about e-paper hardware in a phone-sized format.
IT Home notes that the Bigme HiBreak Plus is expected to officially open for presale soon. Taken together, the specs suggest Bigme is trying to make a more approachable entry-level smartphone in the color E Ink category rather than chasing flagship-style hardware.
