Counterpoint says Apple took five spots in the global top-10 smartphone sales ranking for Q4 2025

A new report from Counterpoint Research says Apple had a dominant finish to the year, taking five places in the global top-10 best-selling smartphone list for the fourth quarter of 2025.

According to the ranking, the iPhone 17 Pro Max led worldwide smartphone sales for the quarter, followed by the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro. That gave Apple a clean sweep of the top three spots.

The iPhone 16 placed fourth, while the iPhone 16e came in eighth. Counterpoint also noted that the iPhone Air did not make the top-10 list for the quarter.

Samsung secured four positions in the same ranking, with the Galaxy A56 in fifth, Galaxy A36 in sixth, Galaxy A07 in seventh, and Galaxy S25 in tenth. Xiaomi rounded out the list with the REDMI A5 in ninth place.

Counterpoint said the ten best-selling models together accounted for 23% of global smartphone sales during the quarter. On its own, the iPhone 17 Pro Max represented 5% of total sales, which underlines how concentrated demand was around Apple’s flagship lineup.

Looking across the full 2025 calendar year, Apple’s iPhone models remained a constant presence on Counterpoint’s annual top-10 charts and consistently held the top three positions. Samsung and Xiaomi continued trading places lower down the list, with Xiaomi missing the top ten only in the third quarter.

The report also highlights the iPhone 16 as the only iPhone model that stayed in the global top-10 throughout the entire year. Aside from the final quarter, it held the No. 1 position in each earlier period.

Taken together, the numbers suggest Apple’s premium lineup stayed unusually strong through late 2025, while the broader top-10 ranking still showed room for Samsung’s midrange volume models and Xiaomi’s entry-level reach.
