A new early look at Samsung One UI 9 suggests the company is making a series of small but noticeable interface refinements rather than going for a dramatic redesign. According to a video shared by SammyGuru, the preview build based on Android 17 focuses mainly on the Now Bar, home screen widgets, and parts of the Gallery app.
The biggest visual change appears to be in the Now Bar. In this early build, Samsung uses a deeper black background for the pill-shaped area, adds a circular thumbnail on the left for the current track, places the song title near the top center, and shows a moving wave animation underneath. Long-pressing the area opens a control panel, making it easier to remove toggles or jump straight into Now Bar settings.
Animation behavior also seems more polished. Based on the demo video, the expansion effect looks smoother and carries a green accent color, while the panel has a slight outward and upward visual lift as it opens. Once the user is done, pressing back shrinks the panel neatly into its original pill shape, which gives the interaction a more natural feel.
Samsung is also making a lighter change inside the Gallery app. When users select images, the interface now shows a soft, blurred rectangular frame on screen. Selected files collect into that area, creating a cleaner and quicker preview experience without adding too much visual clutter.
Outside those areas, the report says Samsung has also adjusted widgets in Samsung Internet, the Weather app, and the Now Bar itself. The older extra-rounded style appears to be giving way to a squarer rounded-corner look, which could make the overall interface feel a little more structured and modern.
It is still an early preview, so there is plenty of room for Samsung to tweak details before a public release. Still, this first look points to a version of Samsung One UI 9 that is less about headline-grabbing changes and more about smoothing out everyday interactions across the interface.
