Sandisk unveils its first QLC UFS 4.1 storage solution for smartphones and AI-ready mobile devices

Sandisk has introduced its first QLC NAND-based UFS 4.1 embedded flash solution, aimed at smartphones and other mobile devices that need more capacity, higher speed, and better support for on-device AI tasks.

The new product, called the SANDISK iNAND MC EU721, was announced during the CFMS | MemoryS 2026 summit. Sandisk says the drive is designed for mobile hardware ranging from mainstream models to flagship devices.

According to the company, the storage solution is built on its eighth-generation BiCS flash with 218 layers. It offers sequential read speeds of up to 4500MB/s and write speeds of up to 4300MB/s, which puts it in line with the kind of bandwidth needed for real-time translation, smart imaging workloads, and AR features running directly on the device.

Sandisk also says the new module includes Advanced RPMB privacy encryption, abnormal device-health monitoring, and HID fragmented-file management. The idea is to improve not just raw performance, but also security, long-term stability, and sustained smoothness over a device’s lifespan.

Capacity options are set to include 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB versions. Samples are already available, and Sandisk expects the new UFS 4.1 solution to reach the market in April 2026.

For phone makers, the announcement matters because it shows how QLC NAND is moving further into high-performance mobile storage. If adoption goes smoothly, it could help brands offer larger capacities in devices where local AI features and media-heavy workflows are putting more pressure on embedded storage than ever before.
