Fresh chatter out of China suggests iQOO Z11 could be the brand’s first phone to ship with a 165Hz display, a move that would push it further into gaming-phone territory even if it doesn’t wear that label outright. The new claim comes from tipster Digital Chat Station, who said an upcoming iQOO device scheduled for this month will debut with a 165Hz high-refresh-rate screen.
That alone would already stand out, since 165Hz panels are still uncommon in mainstream phones. But the more interesting part is what came next. In follow-up comments, the same tipster hinted that the company’s longer-term goal could be to balance ultra-high refresh rates with sharper resolution, pointing to an eventual target in the range of 2K plus 165Hz.
There was a little more context in the comment thread as well. One user said that if true 2K proves difficult, a 1.5K panel might make more sense if it allows for narrower and more symmetrical bezels on all four sides. The tipster agreed that 1.5K could make those hardware tradeoffs easier. Another user asked whether a future model might pair that with a tandem display structure and real RGB arrangement, but the response suggested that combination probably won’t happen this year.
IT Home noted that earlier reporting had already linked this month’s iQOO launch window to the iQOO Z11. Another tipster, Panda is Bald, previously said the phone would use a Dimensity 8500 chip and has already cleared China’s required certifications.

Official teasers have also given the Z11 a pretty aggressive positioning. iQOO says the device will be the first in its lineup to combine a 165Hz display with what it describes as its biggest-ever 9020mAh battery. That pairing is notable because ultra-high refresh-rate screens usually come with heavier power demands, so battery size becomes part of the story rather than just a background spec.
For comparison, the company released the iQOO Z11 Turbo earlier this year on January 15. That model came with Qualcomm’s fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 chip, a 200MP main camera, a 6.59-inch 2750 × 1260 OLED panel, and a 7,600mAh battery, with pricing starting at 2,699 yuan.
None of this makes the 165Hz claim official yet, but it does line up with iQOO’s recent habit of leaning hard into headline specs. If the Z11 really arrives this month with a 165Hz display and a 9020mAh battery, it could end up being one of the more unusual performance-focused phones in its segment.
