OPPO Find X9 Ultra sample shots preview a 10x optical zoom push as mobile telephoto competition heats up

OPPO Chief Product Officer and OnePlus founder Pete Lau has shared fresh camera samples from the upcoming OPPO Find X9 Ultra, putting the spotlight squarely on the phone’s long-range imaging setup. The images were presented as examples of the device’s 10x optical zoom capability, which OPPO is clearly treating as one of the headline features for this model.

In Lau’s words, a truly competitive 10x lens is something every phone maker has wanted to fit into a handset for years. He argued that the real endgame for mobile telephoto photography is 10x, saying it isn’t just about pushing zoom farther, but about completing the overall imaging system in a meaningful way.

That statement lines up with details shared earlier by OPPO Find series product lead Zhou Shijie. According to the earlier information highlighted by IT Home, the OPPO Find X9 Ultra is expected to debut a new 5-reflection prism structure. OPPO says that design reaches an equivalent focal length of 460mm, which it describes as delivering 20x optical-quality imaging.

The company also says its Hasselblad-branded 10x telephoto system will support native 10x optical zoom, 20x optical-quality zoom, and up to 120x digital zoom. That combination suggests OPPO is trying to move beyond the usual smartphone compromise where long-distance shooting still depends too heavily on software enhancement once users zoom in far enough.

For now, the new sample gallery doesn’t reveal every remaining detail about the phone, but it does show the direction OPPO wants people to focus on. Rather than framing the OPPO Find X9 Ultra as just another yearly camera flagship, the company is pitching it as a device built to change expectations around serious telephoto performance on a phone.
