Samsung says a software fix is coming for blurry 3x zoom photos on the Galaxy S26 Ultra

Samsung has acknowledged a camera issue affecting the Galaxy S26 Ultra, saying some users are seeing soft or blurry results when the phone switches to 3x zoom. The company says it is already working on a software patch and plans to roll it out after testing is finished.

Reports shared on Korean community forums say the drop in image quality shows up when the camera system moves into the 3x telephoto range. Users have described photos with reduced detail and an overly soft look instead of the sharper output they expected from the flagship device.

According to the report, the issue is easier to spot in bright scenes, where the loss of fine detail stands out more clearly. Some users also say the problem becomes even more noticeable at night when the flash is involved.

Samsung’s technical team says its review of system logs and sample shots points to a software update problem during lens switching, not a defect in the lens hardware or the image sensor itself. That matters because it suggests the problem should be fixable without a hardware recall or repair program.

Samsung hasn’t shared an exact release date for the patch yet, but the company says development is underway. For current Galaxy S26 Ultra users, the main takeaway is that Samsung believes the blurry 3x zoom behavior comes from image processing and plans to correct it through software.
