A new Xiaomi 17 Max appears to be moving closer to launch after a handset with model number 2605EPN8EC cleared China’s SRRC certification. Based on earlier leaks, the device is widely expected to be Xiaomi’s next large-screen flagship and could launch under the Xiaomi 17 Max name, though some reports have also referred to it as the Xiaomi 17S Pro.
The certification itself doesn’t reveal a full spec sheet, but previous reports paint a fairly clear picture of what Xiaomi may be preparing. The phone is said to feature a 6.9-inch 1.5K flat display with very slim bezels on all four sides, which would position it as a true big-screen premium model rather than just a slightly larger variant.
Camera leaks suggest the device could use a 200MP main camera paired with a 50MP telephoto macro lens, along with symmetrical dual speakers. On the silicon side, current rumors point to Qualcomm’s next flagship platform, described in local reports as the fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, though a Xiaomi in-house Xring version hasn’t been ruled out.
The broader hardware story is just as interesting. Earlier leaks claim Xiaomi is targeting a high-end build with a metal frame, a cleaner rear camera layout, upgraded speaker performance, an X-axis motor, 3D ultrasonic fingerprint recognition, and full-scale water resistance. Battery capacity is also rumored to start with an “8,” hinting at an especially large silicon battery for this class.
Timing-wise, multiple leak sources have linked the phone to a May release window. If that schedule holds, this SRRC certification is a strong sign that Xiaomi is entering the final stretch before launch. Until Xiaomi makes it official, the details should still be treated as pre-release information, but the overall outline points to a serious Xiaomi flagship phone built around a 6.9-inch display and top-tier internals.
