Apple’s next iPhone software update may bring a small but genuinely useful quality-of-life change. According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, iOS 27 is testing new undo and redo controls for Home Screen editing.
WWDC 2026 is now less than two months away, and current reporting suggests this year’s software cycle will focus more on stability and refinement than on sweeping changes. Even so, Apple still appears to be working on a few lighter customization upgrades that could make everyday use feel a bit smoother.
The reported change targets the menu that appears after you long-press the Home Screen. Right now, that panel includes options such as adding widgets, customizing icons and themes, editing wallpaper, and editing pages. Gurman says Apple plans to add dedicated undo and redo buttons to that same menu.
If that happens, rearranging icons and widgets should become much less annoying. Users would be able to back out of a layout change they don’t like, then restore it again if they change their mind. Apple hasn’t said how much edit history the feature would keep, but even a limited version would make quick Home Screen tweaks more forgiving.
The report also says iOS 27 may introduce a slider for adjusting the system’s liquid glass effect, giving users more control than the current simple transparency-style options. That would fit the broader idea of a release centered on polish rather than dramatic redesign.
For now, none of this is official. Still, if the feature ships as described, frequent tinkerers will probably appreciate having a faster way to recover from accidental Home Screen changes.
