NASA’s official @NASAArtemis account has shared a short video captured with the iPhone 17 Pro Max, showing a striking moment during the Artemis 2 mission when Earthshine became the only light source inside the Orion spacecraft cabin.
The clip highlights the faint glow created when sunlight reflects off Earth and illuminates nearby space. In this case, that reflected light softly lit the cabin interior and the face of astronaut Christina Koch, turning a subtle optical effect into a remarkably clear visual record.
A few seconds later, Koch flips the camera toward the window, revealing Earth outside the spacecraft. The sequence gives viewers a simple but memorable look at how light behaves in cislunar space during a crewed lunar mission.
The footage doesn’t add new mission claims beyond what NASA has already shown, but it does stand out as another example of a consumer smartphone being used to document visually unique moments in spaceflight.
