A new set of dummy-unit photos is giving people an early look at what Samsung may have planned for its next wave of foldables, and the standout model is clearly the Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide.
The images were shared by leaker Sonny Dickson on X and reportedly show three devices: the Galaxy Z Fold8, the Galaxy Z Flip8, and the new Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide. If the leak is accurate, Samsung could unveil the lineup at a Galaxy Unpacked event said to be scheduled for July 22, 2026.
Size is where things get interesting. The report says the Galaxy Z Flip8 is roughly 166.8 mm tall, making it the tallest of the three. The regular Fold8 is said to come in at around 158 mm, which would keep it close to the current Fold7 in overall height.
The biggest talking point, though, is the wider model. The Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide is described as unfolding into a shape that feels more like a compact wide-screen tablet, with an opened height of about 124 mm and width of about 161 mm. When folded, its width is said to be close to 82.2 mm.
That approach suggests Samsung may be trying to build a more distinctive premium Samsung foldable instead of simply stretching the existing Fold formula. The same report also frames the device as a potential rival for Apple’s expected premium foldable, which some leaks have referred to as the iPhone Ultra.
To keep the chassis shorter, Samsung may trim back the camera setup on this model. The story says the Wide version could drop from a triple-camera system to just two rear cameras, bringing its overall look closer to the Galaxy S25 Edge and the Flip series.
Nothing here is official yet, but the leak does hint that Samsung may be testing more than one answer to the next generation of high-end foldables. If the Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide makes it to market, it could end up being the most experimental device in the company’s 2026 foldable lineup.
