Samsung may reshape the Galaxy S27 camera layout to make room for built-in Qi2 magnets

A new leak claims Samsung may change the internal layout of the Galaxy S27 series in order to build magnetic components directly into the phones and fully support Qi2 charging.

According to the source, the expected camera layout changes would not be driven mainly by industrial design. Instead, Samsung would be trying to free up enough internal space for a magnetic coil and magnet array, allowing users to attach magnetic chargers and accessories without relying on a special case.

If that plan goes forward, Galaxy users could get an experience much closer to Apple’s MagSafe ecosystem. Accessories such as magnetic power banks, wallets, and car mounts could attach directly to the phone instead of depending on a third-party case to provide alignment and holding force.

The report also says Samsung had previously explored this direction for the Galaxy S26 lineup but backed away late in development. That earlier project was reportedly hit by major internal changes, including the removal of the Pro and Edge variants, and the magnetic charging plan was dropped along the way.

Even now, the idea may not be locked in. The leak says Samsung is dealing with rising RAM and storage chip costs, which are pushing up smartphone manufacturing expenses. Because of that, the company could still postpone the magnetic hardware plan if it decides the extra cost would put too much pressure on pricing.

So for now, the headline is less about a guaranteed camera redesign and more about Samsung’s ongoing effort to bring a native magnetic wireless charging experience to Galaxy phones. If the S27 generation misses that window, the same feature could reportedly slip to the Galaxy S28 instead.
