Windows Phone 7 gets an unofficial Discord client thanks to the community

If you still have a soft spot for Windows Phone 7, this is the kind of story that hits a nostalgic nerve. Long after Microsoft left the platform behind, enthusiasts are still finding ways to keep it alive.

A community member has now managed to get Discord working on the classic Windows Phone 7 platform. According to the original report, there are currently two different ways to make it happen.

One option is an app called 7evencord, which has just released its first test build. The other is MetroCord. The two projects use different technical approaches, but both are aimed at bringing modern chat access back to Microsoft’s long-abandoned mobile OS.

There is a clear warning attached, though. Discord does not officially recommend third-party clients, and both 7evencord and MetroCord fall into that category. Anyone who decides to try them needs to understand the risk and proceed at their own discretion.

Even so, it’s hard not to admire the dedication. Here in 2026, people are still tinkering with Windows Phone 7, and this isn’t the only example either. The same enthusiast spirit has also produced tutorials showing how to run TikTok on old Windows Phone hardware.
