Apple says the iPhone 17 lineup has become the company’s most popular iPhone family to date, according to comments cited from an interview with the Financial Times. Apple CFO Kevan Parekh said the strength of the lineup helped push the brand’s global iPhone market share to a new high in the second quarter of 2026.

CEO Tim Cook also said Apple demand is running well ahead of expectations worldwide. In his words, the company is seeing stronger-than-expected interest, while the supply chain still lacks enough flexibility to secure more parts quickly.

One of the biggest bottlenecks appears to be chip supply. The report says Apple’s shipments are being constrained in part by the A19 chip supply situation, specifically the A19 and A19 Pro processors produced by TSMC. TSMC is currently pushing hard on its AI chip strategy, which is reportedly pulling more capacity toward AI-related products.

Parekh added that memory has become another supply-side pressure point. From the first quarter to the second quarter of 2026, memory has accounted for a growing share of the bill of materials, making it a more meaningful factor in overall production costs.

So while the iPhone 17 lineup is clearly resonating with buyers, Apple is still dealing with the practical limits of component availability as it tries to keep up with demand.
