REDMI K Pad 2 arrived as Xiaomi’s second small-format gaming tablet, launching alongside the REDMI K90 Max at a starting price of 3,099 yuan.
The new model keeps the 8.8-inch form factor from the first generation, but it pushes the hardware further with a sharper screen, stronger performance, and a larger battery. Based on the source walkthrough, Xiaomi is clearly positioning it as a compact device for players who want flagship-level power without moving up to a full-size tablet.
On the outside, the tablet uses a metal unibody chassis with a sandblasted finish. The rounded corners are meant to make landscape gaming more comfortable, while the body measures 6.62mm thick and weighs 345 grams. That makes it a bit heavier than the last generation, but the trade-off is tied to the upgraded internal hardware.
The front is built around an 8.8-inch LCD panel with a 3K 165Hz display, 403 PPI pixel density, and Real RGB arrangement. Peak brightness has reportedly been raised from 700 nits to 1,100 nits, and Xiaomi is also adding multiple eye-care features, including Rhythm Eye Protection 2.0, Qingtian color eye-care tuning, an S++ visual comfort certification, and TÜV Rheinland triple eye protection certification.
One of the more practical hardware choices is the pair of USB-C ports on the side. Xiaomi says the REDMI K Pad 2 supports USB 3.2 Gen 1, so users can charge the device in either orientation without the cable getting in the way. The tablet also supports bypass charging, which should help keep heat under control during longer gaming sessions.
Xiaomi also added a custom AI shortcut key with a lightning icon. By default it can trigger Rage Mode with a single press, but it can also be reassigned for eye-care mode, screenshots, and other quick actions. The power button includes a fingerprint reader as well.
Under the hood, the tablet is built around the Dimensity 9500 chip on TSMC’s N3P process, paired with LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.1 storage. Xiaomi says it uses a centered SoC cooling layout with a 15,300mm² aluminum liquid-cooling VC, and it shifts the LCD backlight strip away from the main grip area to reduce edge heat during landscape use. The screen also supports a 540Hz multi-touch reporting rate, and the device includes a 400Hz gyroscope.
Other headline specs include a 9,100mAh battery, 67W fast charging, symmetrical speakers with a 2.0cc chamber tuned with BOSE, and dual 0815 X-axis linear motors that support dynamic vibration in Honor of Kings. Xiaomi even includes several cartoon sticker sets in the box, which gives the product a more playful finish.
Pricing listed in the source starts at 3,099 yuan on JD.com for the 8GB + 256GB version, while the 12GB + 256GB model starts at 3,699 yuan and the 16GB + 512GB version starts at 4,299 yuan. Taken together, the hardware profile makes the REDMI K Pad 2 look like a highly focused gaming tablet rather than a general-purpose mini slate.
