Samsung One UI 9.5 may already be in active development, according to a post shared on X by Erencan Yılmaz on May 6. The claim says Samsung has started work on the next major mid-cycle version of One UI, and that it will be based on Android 17.
The source also shared a screenshot of a code snippet that references multiple One UI versions, including Samsung One UI 9.5. If accurate, this would be the first public sign that the version exists inside Samsung’s internal software roadmap.
There are no confirmed feature details yet. Even so, based on Samsung’s past software direction, users would likely expect a cleaner visual style, more refined customization tools, and another round of usability tweaks rather than a complete redesign.
The report also says the non-folding Galaxy S27 lineup is currently expected to be the first phone family to ship with the update. Since Samsung continues to invest heavily in Galaxy AI, it would be reasonable to expect the Android 17-based release to expand AI-driven features and make day-to-day interactions feel a bit smarter across the system.
