Samsung launches Galaxy M17e in India with a 6,000mAh battery and six Android version upgrades

Samsung has launched the Samsung Galaxy M17e in India, expanding its entry-level 5G lineup with a phone that focuses on battery life, dependable everyday performance, and unusually long software support for its class. The company hasn’t announced a broader global rollout yet, but the device is already on sale in India through Amazon and Samsung’s official channels.

The headline feature is the 6000mAh battery, which Samsung says is designed to comfortably last more than a full day on a single charge. The phone also supports 25W wired charging, giving it a practical spec sheet for buyers who care more about endurance than flagship extras.

Up front, the device uses a 6.7-inch LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 720 x 1600 resolution. Samsung is marketing it as one of the smoothest displays in its price tier, even if the panel itself remains focused on affordability rather than premium sharpness. For performance, the phone runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chip and comes in two memory configurations: 4GB + 128GB and 6GB + 128GB.

Camera hardware stays simple but usable. The rear setup includes a 50MP main camera paired with a 2MP depth sensor, while the front uses a basic 8MP selfie camera. It’s not a camera-first phone, but the setup should cover standard photos, portraits, and video calls without trying to oversell itself.

Software support is where Samsung is trying to stand out. The phone ships with One UI 8 based on Android 16, and Samsung says it will provide six generations of Android and One UI upgrades along with six years of security patches. That’s a strong support promise for a lower-cost device and could matter a lot for users who want to keep a phone for several years.

The feature list also includes Samsung Wallet with Knox-backed security, Circle to Search, Now Bar, IP54 dust and splash resistance, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and support for multiple 5G bands. Samsung is offering the phone in Vibe Violet and Blitz Blue, both paired with a clean rear-panel design that keeps things understated.

Pricing starts at 11,749 Indian rupees for the 4GB + 128GB version and 13,249 rupees for the 6GB + 128GB model, with launch pricing tied to early bank offers. Overall, the Samsung Galaxy M17e looks aimed at buyers who want a straightforward budget 5G phone with long battery life, a fast-enough display, and software support that goes well beyond what this segment usually gets.
