Xiaomi unveils the POCO X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max globally with up to an 8,500mAh battery

Xiaomi has introduced the POCO X8 Pro and POCO X8 Pro Max in overseas markets, expanding the POCO lineup with two phones that put a heavy focus on battery size and upper-midrange performance. Depending on the model, buyers get either a Dimensity 8500 Ultra or a Dimensity 9500s chip, with battery capacity going as high as 8,500mAh.

The higher-end POCO X8 Pro Max is equipped with the Dimensity 9500s, LPDDR5X memory, and UFS 4.1 storage. It uses a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 2772 x 1280 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, peak HDR brightness rated at 3,500 nits, 2840Hz PWM dimming, an in-display fingerprint reader, and Gorilla Glass 7i protection.

That model also pairs its large display with an especially large 8,500mAh battery, along with 100W wired charging and 27W reverse charging. On the camera side, it features a 50MP main camera built around a 1/1.95-inch sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 20MP front-facing camera. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and NFC.

For pricing, Xiaomi says the 12GB + 256GB version of the POCO X8 Pro Max starts at $429, while the 512GB version is priced at $459. That positions it as a relatively aggressive offering for users who want a big battery and near-flagship memory and storage specs without paying flagship prices.

The standard POCO X8 Pro is a little smaller and lighter on the spec sheet, but it still looks competitive. It measures 8.38mm thick and weighs 201 grams, with a 6.59-inch AMOLED display at 2576 x 1268 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Peak HDR brightness is again listed at 3,500 nits.

Inside, the POCO X8 Pro uses the Dimensity 8500 Ultra clocked up to 3.4GHz and includes a 6,500mAh battery with 100W charging. The camera setup remains similar, with a 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. Pricing starts at $299 for the 8GB + 256GB version and goes to $359 for the 12GB + 512GB model.

Based on the published specs, Xiaomi is clearly pushing the new POCO phones as feature-dense devices for buyers who care about screen quality, fast charging, and battery life. The POCO X8 Pro lineup doesn’t try to be subtle about that pitch: it’s all about big batteries, bright AMOLED panels, and strong performance-per-dollar.
