A new supply-chain report says the Galaxy Z Fold8 may be the first book-style Samsung foldable in the main Fold lineup to reach a 5,000mAh battery. If that holds up, it would mark a meaningful break from the 4,400mAh capacity Samsung has kept in the series since the Galaxy Z Fold3.
The report, published by Galaxy Club and relayed by IT Home, says Samsung is still expected to use a dual-cell battery design in the upcoming model. The two cells are listed at rated capacities of 2,369mAh and 2,485mAh, bringing the combined rated figure to 4,845mAh. As usual, that would likely be marketed with a typical value of 5,000mAh battery capacity in official materials.
That may not sound dramatic compared with some Chinese foldables, but within Samsung’s own product line it would still be a notable jump. Battery life has been one of the more stubborn tradeoffs in thinner foldables, so even a moderate increase could matter if the rest of the power profile stays under control.
The same report also says supply-chain testing has involved another battery configuration built around a single 2,393mAh cell. Industry watchers think that setup could be intended for a derivative model carrying the codename H8 and referred to as a Fold Wide variant. If that version reaches a typical combined capacity of 4,900mAh, it would sit just under the main Galaxy Z Fold8 rumor.
On cameras, the source says the device identified internally as Q8 is still expected to use a flagship-grade 200MP main sensor on the rear. That would keep Samsung on a familiar path for imaging, focusing changes on refinement rather than a dramatic camera hardware shake-up.
There’s also an early note on the under-display camera. The report claims Samsung may use a slightly smaller sensor there than before, but pair it with improved light transmission and updated image processing. In practice, that suggests Samsung is trying to improve the balance between display quality and selfie-camera usability instead of chasing a single spec headline.
Nothing here is official yet, but the battery detail is the one that stands out most. If Samsung does move the Galaxy Z Fold8 to a true 5,000mAh battery class, it could address one of the most persistent complaints around the Fold series without changing the overall formula too much.
