A new Chinese leak claims the second half of the year could bring a surprisingly crowded wave of compact flagships. According to tipster Digital Chat Station, as many as four small high end phones are currently expected to arrive around September and October, with each model taking a slightly different hardware approach.

The rumored engineering prototypes are said to involve chips including Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the next Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, and MediaTek’s Dimensity 9600 Pro. The same leak also points to batteries that could start with the number eight, very large imaging sensors, dual 200MP camera setups in some cases, next generation LOFIC technology, larger X axis vibration motors, and symmetrical stereo speakers.

That combination suggests brands are still trying to prove that smaller flagship phones don’t have to feel stripped down. Instead of treating a compact model as a weaker side option, the leak paints these devices as premium phones that would keep high end cameras, strong batteries, and flagship silicon while simply using a smaller footprint.
The report did come with a correction. After the original post, the tipster reportedly clarified that there may not be a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro variant involved after all, which means some of the early chip naming details could still shift before launch season arrives.
For now, the names of the phones have not been confirmed. In the comment section, some users speculated that the four models could include devices from Honor, Xiaomi, and vivo, but that part remains guesswork. What the leak does make clear is that the market for compact flagships may get much more competitive this fall if these projects stay on track.
