A new claim shared by tipster Digital Chat Station says Apple’s iPhone 17 lineup has regained momentum in China after a broad round of price cuts, with cumulative regional activations now said to have passed 30 million.
According to the post, the rebound showed up during the W20 sales period after pricing across the full series was lowered. The report frames the move as a direct catalyst for stronger activation volume in the Chinese market.
The same claim also breaks out activation totals by model. The iPhone 17 Pro Max is said to have reached more than 13.2 million activations, while the iPhone 17 Pro is listed at more than 7.8 million. The standard iPhone 17, meanwhile, is said to have accumulated more than 9.16 million activations.
Separate reporting cited in the source adds more context around the timing. On May 15, Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro models reportedly received a 1,000 yuan discount on Tmall and JD.com, bringing the starting price down from 8,999 yuan to 7,999 yuan. The promotion is expected to run through June 21.
Ji Mian News previously reported that just three days after the discount campaign began, search interest for iPhone on Taobao Tmall jumped sevenfold compared with normal daily levels. That surge in attention may help explain why market watchers are now talking about a meaningful sales rebound after the latest pricing adjustments.
For now, the 30 million figure remains an external claim rather than an official Apple disclosure. Even so, the report adds to a growing picture of how aggressive pricing can quickly change demand trends for premium smartphones in China.
