Nuu Mobile has launched the Nuu B40 5G in the US, pitching it as an affordable smartphone with an extra display built into the back. That rear screen is one of the device’s more unusual touches in the lower-price segment, and it’s meant to surface quick information without needing to wake the main screen every time.

According to the company, the secondary panel is a 1.6-inch AMOLED display with a 460 x 228 resolution and peak brightness of 500 nits. It can show the time, date, charging status, calls, text alerts, step counts, and music playback details. Nuu also says it can work as a rear-camera preview, making it easier to take selfies with the main camera.

The main display is a 6.7-inch curved AMOLED panel with a 2400 x 1080 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, with brightness reaching up to 1,100 nits. Camera hardware includes a 64MP rear main camera, a 2MP macro lens, and a 16MP front-facing camera.

Inside, the Nuu B40 5G runs on MediaTek’s Dimensity 7025 chip and comes with 8GB of RAM plus 256GB of storage. It also packs a 5,000mAh battery with 33W wired fast charging, along with extras like an in-display fingerprint sensor, Bluetooth 5.2, and dual-SIM support.
The phone ships with Android 15 and is priced at $249.99 in the US. For buyers looking at entry-level hardware, Nuu is trying to stand out by mixing mainstream specs with a feature that’s still fairly rare in this part of the market: a practical rear display phone design.
