OPPO has officially started sales of the OPPO Reno16 series in China, with the lineup starting at 2,999 yuan after national subsidy discounts. The release covers both the standard model and the Reno16 Pro, and OPPO is positioning them around sleek styling, large batteries, upgraded connectivity hardware, and a camera system built for portrait and live-photo shooting.

On the design side, the Reno16 comes in three colors and weighs between 188 and 191 grams depending on the version, while thickness ranges from 8.2mm to 8.36mm. The Reno16 Pro is slimmer at roughly 7.7mm to 7.86mm, but heavier at 205 to 208 grams. OPPO says both devices use a glass back and metal middle frame, while one of the Pro finishes introduces a 3D translucent floating effect meant to create a glasses-free depth look on the rear panel.

The Reno16 Pro uses a 6.78-inch 2772 x 1272 OLED flat display and runs on a Dimensity 9500s chip. OPPO also says it includes its ShanHai communication enhancement chip, a separate Wi-Fi acceleration chip, nano ice-crystal cooling, a 7,000mAh battery, 80W wired charging, and 50W wireless charging. That combination makes the Pro one of the more battery-focused upper-midrange phones in OPPO’s current lineup.

The standard OPPO Reno16 features a 6.32-inch 2640 x 1216 OLED flat display and debuts with a Dimensity 8550 SUPER processor, along with LPDDR5X memory and UFS 3.1 storage. It also carries OPPO’s communication enhancement hardware and nano cooling setup, but uses a 6,700mAh battery with 80W fast charging instead of the larger Pro battery.

Camera hardware is another major selling point. OPPO says the Reno16 series includes a 200MP main camera, a 50MP periscope telephoto camera, and a 50MP ultra-wide camera, plus a 50MP front-facing camera. The Pro version adds a micro-gimbal structure on the main sensor and supports intelligent correction for focal-plane rotation. OPPO also highlights support for high-resolution live photos, improved portrait rendering through its Natural Tone engine, and a feature that lets users combine up to 10 live or still photos into a single stylized composition.

The company is also pushing AI features, including a dedicated AI key for quickly capturing screen content, generating travel notes, and organizing study materials. With China subsidy pricing bringing the entry price down to 2,999 yuan, the Reno16 series looks set to be one of OPPO’s more aggressive mainstream launches in the domestic market.
