Samsung has started rolling out a new Galaxy S26 feature in Korea that adds compatibility with Apple AirDrop through an updated version of Samsung Quick Share. The company had already introduced the feature at a March 20 press event, and the update is now beginning to reach users in the market first.
According to the rollout details, the new option appears inside Quick Share, which Samsung positions as its Android-side sharing tool. Users can swipe down from the top of the screen, open Settings, head to Connected devices, tap Quick Share, choose sharing with Apple devices, and then turn the feature on.
Samsung notes that once this option is enabled, the phone may temporarily disconnect from Wi-Fi while it searches for or shares with Apple devices. That tradeoff appears to be part of how the compatibility layer works when the phone is trying to discover nearby iPhones, iPads, Macs, or other devices that support Apple AirDrop.

With the feature turned on, Galaxy S26 users can send images to Apple hardware without any unusual workarounds. On the Apple side, AirDrop still needs to be set to Everyone for the transfer to work as expected, according to the source report.
Samsung says the feature is launching on the Galaxy S26 series first, but the company plans to expand it to more Galaxy devices later. Tipster Ice Universe also claims the rollout should eventually extend to Europe, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Latin America, North America, and Southeast Asia, though Samsung hasn’t yet published a full device-by-device support schedule for those regions.
If that broader expansion happens, this could end up being one of Samsung’s more practical cross-platform moves in a while. File sharing between Galaxy phones and Apple devices has usually involved extra steps, so tighter Samsung Quick Share support for AirDrop-style transfers would make everyday sharing a lot simpler for people using both ecosystems.
