Samsung may finally bring 45W charging to the Galaxy Z Fold8, according to a new 3C certification

Samsung’s next book-style foldable may be getting one of the upgrades Fold users have wanted for years. According to information spotted in China’s 3C certification database and summarized by IT Home, the Galaxy Z Fold8 now appears tied to a faster 45W charging standard instead of staying stuck at the long-running 25W level.

The certification reportedly covers two models, SM-F9710 and SM-F9760. Based on earlier GSMA IMEI database findings, those are said to correspond to the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Samsung’s first wider foldable variant. The key takeaway is simple: both devices are listed with support for 45W charging.

That would mark a pretty meaningful change for Samsung’s foldable lineup. The original Galaxy Fold only offered 15W wired charging, and the series moved up to 25W with the Galaxy Z Fold2 back in 2020. Since then, Samsung’s Fold models have mostly stayed there while the company’s slab-style flagships pushed further ahead.

IT Home notes that Samsung’s Galaxy S series had already adopted 45W charging years ago, and the newer Galaxy S26 Ultra reportedly raises that ceiling even more. Against that backdrop, a move to 45W charging on the Galaxy Z Fold8 would feel less like a luxury and more like Samsung finally bringing its premium foldable in line with buyer expectations.

There’s also another upgrade rumor attached to the same wave of reporting. The Galaxy Z Fold8 is said to increase battery capacity from 4400mAh to 5000mAh battery territory, which would make the charging bump more useful in practice. Faster top-ups matter a lot more when the battery itself gets larger.

Nothing is officially final until Samsung announces the phone, but this certification is still a notable sign. If the report holds up, Fold buyers may finally see one of the lineup’s most stubborn weak spots start to disappear.
