One UI 9 code hints Samsung’s Galaxy Z Wide Fold could use a 4:3 inner display

Code found in early One UI 9 firmware appears to offer a clearer look at Samsung’s rumored Galaxy Z Wide Fold. The leaked details suggest the phone’s inner display may use a 4:3 display ratio, giving it a wider, more tablet-like shape than Samsung’s recent book-style foldables.

The report says firmware files tied to model number SM-F971B point to an internal screen with proportions close to 4:3. For comparison, the current Galaxy Z Fold7 is said to sit much closer to a near-square layout, so this would represent a noticeable shift in how Samsung approaches large foldable screens.

A wider panel could improve everyday viewing, especially for photos, video, and other media where users often prefer a broader canvas. It may also reduce the oversized black bars that can show up on taller foldable displays during landscape viewing.

The design choice may also reflect market strategy. Rumors have suggested Apple could launch its own foldable iPhone later this year with a similarly wider format, and Samsung may want the Galaxy Z Wide Fold to feel more distinct before that competition arrives.

Nothing is official yet, but the One UI 9 clues add weight to the idea that Samsung is experimenting with a different foldable layout. If this leak holds up, the 4:3 display could become one of the most important changes in Samsung’s next wide-format foldable push.
