The discovery was shared by software engineer Dylan Roussel, who said he found wallpaper assets for an unreleased Google foldable after digging through Android 17 Beta 4 code. Based on the preview images, the Midnight version leans into a very dark black tone, while Pine appears to be a richer, more muted green aimed at buyers who want something less predictable than standard neutral hardware colors.
That matters because Google has usually split its color strategy in a fairly clear way across the Pixel lineup. More playful tones often show up on the A-series and standard models, while the Pro family tends to stay closer to subdued white-and-black combinations.
If this leak is accurate, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold could signal a small but meaningful shift in that approach. A green finish for a Pro-tier foldable would give the top end of Google’s lineup a little more personality without drifting into something flashy or gimmicky.
The report doesn’t claim that the wallpapers alone confirm final retail colors, but hidden assets like these often end up reflecting internal product planning surprisingly well. In other words, this isn’t a launch announcement, though it does add weight to the idea that Google is experimenting with a more expressive visual identity for premium foldables.
The timing also lines up with earlier coverage around the upcoming device. IT Home linked the new wallpaper findings to previous reports about Google Pixel foldable renders and repair-friendly battery design patents, which together paint a picture of a product Google may be refining from both the outside and the inside.
