A fresh report from SumahoDigest says the Sony Xperia 1 VIII has surfaced again in a new batch of renders, giving a clearer look at the phone’s updated design and color options ahead of a possible May 20 debut.
According to the report, Sony is preparing four finishes for the device: Graphite Black, Iolite Silver, Garnet Red, and Native Gold. That gives the upcoming flagship a wider color spread than Sony usually offers, and it lines up with the newly shared renders.
The biggest visual change appears on the back. The leaked images show a new square camera module instead of the more familiar long vertical island used on earlier Xperia flagships. Sony’s logo also seems to have been moved closer to the camera area, which makes the rear layout look noticeably different from the older generation.
Based on earlier leaks referenced in the report, the phone is expected to use a 6.5-inch 120Hz OLED display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and FHD+ HDR resolution. It’s also rumored to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip and come with 12GB of memory.
Sony also looks set to keep a few hardware features that have become harder to find in flagship phones. The Xperia 1 VIII is still said to include a 3.5mm headphone jack and dual-SIM support.
On the camera side, the report says Sony may move away from the continuous optical zoom approach used on the Xperia 1 VII. Instead, this generation could switch to a more traditional 48MP periscope camera with a 1/1.56-inch sensor and fixed 3x optical zoom.
Nothing here is official yet, but the combination of repeated renders, detailed color information, and a possible launch date suggests Sony’s next flagship is getting very close to release.
