A new Chinese smartphone leak is pointing to what may be the upcoming vivo S60, with early engineering details focused on a high-resolution flat display, a premium mid-to-upper-tier Qualcomm chip, and a more ambitious camera setup.
Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station said a certain brand’s next S-series engineering device is being tested with a 6.59-inch 1.5K display that uses large rounded corners and a centered screen layout. The phone is also said to feature a large horizontal rear camera matrix.
On the performance side, the prototype reportedly uses a Snapdragon 8s platform. The leak also mentions a battery capacity beginning with the number 7, along with 90W fast charging, suggesting the company is aiming for a stronger battery-and-charging package than a typical style-first midrange device.

Camera hardware is another major part of the rumor. The device is said to include an IMX8-series medium-size-sensor periscope camera, which would be a notable addition for this product tier. Other reported features include a metal middle frame, an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, and IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance.
The tipster also mentioned a standout pink version for the engineering device, plus a collaboration tied to a well-known Chinese animation IP. In the comment section, when asked whether a Pro variant is still in the plan, the reply was that this generation does not have a Pro model. Another follow-up question about the rear design got the answer that the phone keeps a large horizontal matrix layout, with a style said to be somewhat reminiscent of the iPhone Pro line.
Based on the wording of the leak and the speculation in the replies, Chinese tech watchers believe this device is most likely the vivo S60.
For reference, the previous vivo S50 lineup launched in December last year. That series used third-generation Snapdragon 8s and fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 chips depending on model, along with LPDDR5X Ultra memory, UFS 4.1 storage, a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor 2.0, and an eye-comfort display. In China, the starting price was 2,999 yuan for the S50 in a 12GB + 256GB configuration.
As with any engineering leak, the final product could still change before launch. Even so, the report suggests vivo may be pushing the next S-series further upscale with stronger imaging hardware, faster charging, and a more premium overall build.
