OPPO Reno16 Series Puts Live Photo Features Front and Center Ahead of May 25 Launch

OPPO Reno16 series phones are being teased as imaging-first devices, with OPPO now focusing on the lineup’s so-called Live Photo features ahead of the official event scheduled for 6 p.m. on May 25.

According to the company, the rear camera setup combines a 200-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and an intelligent flash system. On the front, OPPO says the phones will use a 50-megapixel ultra-wide selfie camera.

OPPO is also highlighting the software side quite aggressively. The Reno16 series is set to support 200MP shooting, telephoto Live Photos, front-and-rear 0.6x ultra-wide capture, flexible Live Photo stickers, collage-style Live Photo layouts, and 4K one-tap multi-output Live capture. The company also says users will get multiple visual styles, including Instax-inspired, flowing-light film, and CCD-style looks, plus dual-view shooting.

Earlier teasers say the lineup will be offered in a colorway translated roughly as Heartbeat Stardust, with a 3D floating-planet finish on the rear panel. OPPO has also said the whole family will come with a metal middle frame, which suggests the company is still trying to balance lifestyle branding with more premium physical design cues.

Leaked configuration details mentioned by IT Home point to four color options for Reno16 Pro models, a 6.78-inch 1.5K LTPO flat display with narrow bezels, and a Dimensity 9500s chip in engineering units. The same leak also claims a 7000mAh battery, 80W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, a 200MP HP5 main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera.

None of that fully replaces the official launch, but it does make the picture fairly clear already: OPPO wants the OPPO Reno16 series to stand out through camera versatility and creator-friendly shooting modes rather than just another spec-sheet refresh before the May 25 launch.
