Huawei has officially launched the latest addition to its nova lineup, the Huawei nova 16z, at its all-scenario launch event in Chengdu, Sichuan. Positioned as an online-exclusive budget champion, the phone boasts an advanced 50MP Red Maple imaging system, starting at 2,699 yuan (approximately $380 USD), with official sales kicking off on June 5 at 10:08 AM.
According to He Gang, CEO of Huawei Smart Devices BG, the Huawei nova 16z will be available in three eye-catching colors: Sky White, Magic Pearlescent, and Starry Black. Its design language departs noticeably from the standard nova 16 and nova 16 Pro models, opting for a polished glossy frame paired with a stylish gradient effect on the lighter backplates. The rear camera module features an elegant oval outer ring framing a rounded rectangular camera matrix.
In terms of optics, the Huawei nova 16z is equipped with a 50MP Red Maple camera system on the rear, coupled with a 50MP ultra-clear portrait selfie shooter on the front. On the software side, it supports the unique “Time Journal” theme and robust AI image-editing tools. It is fronted by a 6.7-inch ultra-clear eye-care OLED display and supports 5A charging speeds along with BeiDou Satellite Messaging.
Under the hood, the device is powered by the Kirin 8020 chipset running HarmonyOS 6.1, which Huawei claims delivers “highly responsive, robust performance.” Thermal and longevity demands are met by a massive 6,000mAh silicon-carbon anode battery that supports 100W wired fast charging.
The Huawei nova 16z is priced at 2,699 yuan for the 256GB storage variant, while the higher-end 512GB model is priced at 3,199 yuan. Both versions will be exclusively available through the Huawei Mall and authorized e-commerce partners.
