New mockup photos of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra have surfaced online, giving us our first direct look at the size and design differences between the two devices. The photos were shared by reliable tech leaker Ice Universe via the source “Qianqi Baiguai Hongyou Pai.”
These leaked mockups align with recent reports that Samsung is reorganizing its foldable branding. Under the new strategy, the wider aspect ratio model (previously referred to as the Z Fold 8 Wide) will be launched as the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8, while the narrower aspect ratio model that matches previous generations will carry the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra moniker.

The mockup photos reveal that while both models share Samsung’s latest design language, their target audences and dimensions differ significantly. The taller, narrower Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra features a triple-camera system on the back. Meanwhile, the shorter and wider standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 opts for a dual-camera setup but offers a large internal screen with an aspect ratio closer to 4:3.
In addition to the visual mockups, Ice Universe shared technical details for the upcoming foldables. The standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to weigh approximately 201 grams. It will be powered by a 4,800mAh battery supporting 45W fast wired charging. On the imaging side, it will feature a new 50-megapixel primary camera that natively supports a high-resolution 24-megapixel shooting mode, meaning users will not have to download the Camera Assistant app to access it.

The high-end Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will refine the foldable form factor even further. It is expected to weigh 215 grams (the same as the Galaxy Z Fold 7), but will pack a significantly larger 5,000mAh battery compared to its predecessor’s 4,400mAh. Its wired charging speed will also get a welcome upgrade to 45W, and the unfolded thickness will drop slightly to just 4.1mm. Together, these enhancements position the Ultra model as a robust upgrade for power users.
Samsung is expected to officially unveil its next-generation foldable smartphones at the Galaxy Unpacked event, which is rumored to take place in London on July 22, 2026.
