Early iOS 27 Beta Poll Shows Most Upgraders Are Happy With Apple’s First Preview

Apple used its WWDC26 keynote on June 9 to introduce the next major iPhone software update, and the first developer preview of iOS 27 beta is now available to users around the world. Early reaction is already mixed in some ways, but a fresh user poll suggests that people who actually installed the first preview are mostly satisfied with it.

IT Home opened a poll on the morning of June 9, shortly after Apple’s announcement. Within one day, more than 5,000 independent users had submitted votes, giving an early look at how Apple’s first iOS 27 preview is being received by enthusiasts.

When users were asked whether they were satisfied with the overall iOS 27 update, 40.22% chose a response that roughly translates to “just barely acceptable.” That cooler response is not especially surprising. Some of the biggest features Apple promoted, including Siri AI and the next generation of Apple Intelligence, are not currently available in mainland China, which makes the update feel less complete for Chinese iPhone owners.

At the same time, iOS 27 does include regional details that helped soften the reaction. One example mentioned in the report is better support for mainland China’s holiday-adjusted work and alarm schedules. Those kinds of local improvements are smaller than a headline AI feature, but they matter in daily use and can improve the perception of an update that might otherwise feel limited.

The poll also shows that a large share of readers were willing to try the software immediately. According to the results, 43.1% of respondents said they had already upgraded to the first iOS 27 beta developer preview.

Among users who had upgraded, the mood was more positive. After excluding people who had not installed the preview, 59.28% of upgraded users said they were very satisfied with the first iOS 27 preview. That suggests the hands-on experience may be stronger than the broader feature list looks at first glance.

Some early testers also reported that the system feels smoother than expected. One IT Home community member said the first iOS 27 preview showed improved fluidity during early use, though they also noticed occasional missing animations and frame drops. That comment received support from more than 400 people, so the experience may be fairly common among early adopters.

For U.S. readers, the most useful takeaway is that the first preview appears to be a typical early Apple beta: promising, already usable for some enthusiasts, but still carrying rough edges. The positive satisfaction number among upgraders does not mean most people should install it on a primary iPhone immediately. It does mean Apple’s first public-facing build has not landed badly with the users most likely to test it early.

The broader question is how much Apple can improve the update before release, especially around AI availability, Siri behavior, animation polish, and regional feature support. If the company can make Apple Intelligence feel more consistent across markets and tighten the beta’s performance issues, iOS 27 could become a more compelling update by the time it reaches general users.
