Xiaomi 18 Pro leak points to LOFIC imaging, a 200MP main camera, and a 200MP periscope telephoto

A fresh leak says the upcoming Xiaomi 18 Pro series could make a big jump in camera hardware, with talk of LOFIC imaging, a 200MP main camera, and a 200MP periscope telephoto setup. The information was shared by tipster Kartikey Singh on X last week and later echoed alongside earlier reporting cited by IT Home.

According to the claim, the Xiaomi 18 Pro line may become the only compact flagship expected later this year to combine a rear secondary display with a LOFIC-backed 200-megapixel primary sensor and a 200-megapixel telephoto camera. If that combination actually ships, it would position the phone as a fairly unusual camera-focused flagship in the small-size segment.

The leak also says the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Pro Max may use a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera that supports macro shooting from as close as 15 centimeters. For comparison, IT Home notes that the Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max both used 50-megapixel telephoto cameras, with macro focus distances of 20 centimeters and 30 centimeters respectively.

There is also a separate note about the Xiaomi 18 Ultra. The same source claims that model may drop the 1-inch CMOS sensor that has often been treated as a headline feature in ultra-premium camera phones. That part is still described as unsettled, though, so it should be viewed as tentative rather than final.

Earlier leak chatter referenced by IT Home adds a bit more context. A next-generation compact flagship engineering prototype from the same brand was said to feature a battery in the 7,000mAh class, a one-of-a-kind pairing of a very large 200-megapixel main sensor and a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, plus supporting hardware such as an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, full-power wireless charging, and top-tier water resistance.

Put together, the rumor paints the Xiaomi 18 Pro as a device that could lean hard into mobile imaging instead of chasing only benchmark headlines. Still, none of these specifications are official yet, so the safest read for now is that Xiaomi may be testing a far more aggressive camera package for the 18 Pro family than what it offered on the 17 Pro generation.
