Apple says its Apple Sports app is now available in more than 170 markets after expanding into over 90 additional countries and regions. The rollout pushes the app far beyond its earlier footprint in North America, South America, and Europe, giving it a much broader presence across Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa.
Alongside the wider launch, Apple is also adding new tournament tools tied to the 2026 World Cup. The app now includes a bracket view that lets users scroll through matchups and results round by round, making it easier to follow how a national team moves from the group stage to the final.
Another new feature is a visual lineup card that shows each team’s starting formation before kickoff. That sounds small, but it gives casual fans a quicker read on match tactics instead of forcing them to interpret a plain text list of players.
Apple is also linking the app more tightly with its broader content ecosystem. From a score page, users can now jump directly into related stories through Apple News. The company says Apple Sports continues to support Live Activities as well, so fans can glance at scores and match progress from the iPhone lock screen, the Dynamic Island, or Apple Watch.
Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president for Music, Sports, Apple TV, and Beats, said the World Cup is a natural moment to bring the app to a much larger audience because the tournament connects fans across the world. Even with the broader reach, Apple noted that the app is still iPhone-only for now, so iPad and Mac users still do not have a dedicated version.
