Samsung Starts Rolling Out the First One UI 9 Build to Galaxy S26 Phones in Europe

Samsung has already started pushing the first One UI 9 firmware to the Galaxy S26 lineup in Germany and the UK, just days after announcing the new test program on May 12. The update is based on Android 17 and is currently rolling out to the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra.

According to the IT Home report, the package comes in at roughly 3.6GB and also includes Samsung’s May 2026 security patch. That size suggests this is more than a small maintenance build and points to a broader set of system-level changes in the first release.

On the interface side, Samsung is said to be focusing heavily on the lock screen experience. One UI 9 reportedly introduces a layered design, richer lock screen visuals, and the return of waveform-style animation effects. The Quick Panel is also getting more customization options.

Functionally, Samsung Notes is another major area of change. The app is described as gaining stronger smart note-taking and editing tools, while Galaxy AI continues to expand with upgraded image generation and more capable voice transcription features.

For early Galaxy S26 users in the supported regions, this first One UI 9 build looks like Samsung’s first serious public step toward a more visual, more AI-assisted software experience on top of Android 17.
