A new Galaxy Z Fold8 rumor says Samsung may significantly shrink the camera cutout on the phone’s outer display. According to leaker Ice Universe on X, the opening could drop from 3.7mm on the Fold7 to just 2.5mm on the upcoming model.
If that change happens, it would make the cover display look a bit cleaner without forcing a major redesign of the front camera hardware itself. SammyGuru believes the camera specs are likely to stay the same, with Samsung expected to keep the 10MP outer selfie camera setup used on the Fold7.
For reference, the current Galaxy Z Fold7 is said to use a 1/3-inch 10MP sensor paired with an f/2.2 lens on the outside screen.
Earlier leaks also suggest the Galaxy Z Fold8 will stick with Samsung’s flatter, more squared-off frame design. The device is expected to retain an 8-inch inner screen and a 6.5-inch outer display, continue using an M13-material OLED panel, and possibly adopt a new hinge design.
The same round of leaks has also pointed to an upgrade to 45W wired charging. For now, though, these details remain unconfirmed, so it makes sense to treat them as part of the early rumor cycle around Samsung’s next foldable.
