A new report says iOS 27 could bring one of Apple’s biggest interface refreshes in a while, with major changes planned for the Camera app, Siri, Safari, Weather, and even parts of the home screen editing experience.
According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, Apple is preparing a much more flexible camera interface in iOS 27. Users would be able to customize where controls like flash, exposure, timer, and resolution appear on screen. The app would still open with a default set of familiar controls, but users could switch to an advanced control layout or build their own arrangement from a broader set of options.

The report says each shooting mode would have its own control set, and users could pull up a transparent tray from the bottom of the screen to add or change controls. In photo mode, that advanced tray may include options such as depth and exposure, grouped into categories like basic, manual, and settings. Grid and level tools are also said to be part of the update.
Siri is reportedly getting a much deeper overhaul. Instead of acting mainly like today’s voice assistant, Siri is said to be evolving into an always-available agent that can access personal data and take actions across apps. The visual presentation would change too, including a new conversational interface that feels more like a chat experience than a single-command assistant.
One part of the redesign reportedly ties Siri more closely to the Dynamic Island. When Siri is activated, users may see a larger pill-shaped animation at the top center of the screen. Swiping down from that area could open a new system-wide search experience with a “search or ask” field. From there, users may be able to switch between Siri and third-party AI services like ChatGPT or Gemini for different kinds of queries.

Apple is also said to be redesigning Safari. The browser could get a new start page with four tabs across the top so users can move more quickly between favorites, bookmarks, saved reading-list articles, and browsing history. The Weather app may gain a new weather conditions panel on the main screen so users can view details like rainfall and wind without drilling into secondary pages.
At the system level, Apple is reportedly adjusting bottom tab bars in several apps, merging search into the main tab structure in apps such as Podcasts, Health, News, TV, and Music. Home screen editing may also add undo and redo controls, while the on-screen keyboard is said to get a fresh upward slide animation when it appears.
None of this has been officially confirmed by Apple, and the company declined to comment on the upcoming announcements. Still, if the report is accurate, iOS 27 could be a meaningful usability update rather than a cosmetic tweak. Apple is expected to formally unveil iOS 27 and other software updates at WWDC 2026 on June 9.
