A new supply-chain leak suggests Apple’s long-rumored iPhone Fold may use a crease-free hinge design similar in concept to what OPPO is doing on the Find N6. The same source says rival large foldables are also moving in that direction.
The update comes from Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station, who said feedback from the supply chain points to Apple and competing book-style foldables adopting a near-crease-free hinge solution. When asked whether the approach is the same as the one used on the OPPO Find N6, the tipster said it’s a similar technology, but not literally the same implementation.
That detail matters because OPPO has been putting serious engineering emphasis on hinge refinement. Earlier coverage referenced by IT Home says the Find N6 uses a titanium-alloy “Sky Dome” hinge along with memory glass for the inner screen. OPPO also described a chip-level polymer 3D printing process that starts with a spectral confocal scan at 2-micron precision, then uses micro-printing at the 5-picoliter level to fill in tiny irregularities and smooth out the last 0.1mm of unevenness.

On the display side, OPPO says its memory glass goes through a special chemical strengthening process to better resist deformation and repeated folding stress. The company has claimed stronger scratch resistance and a major improvement in resistance to bending deformation, all in service of making the inner screen look flatter and wear more gracefully over time.
For Apple, the takeaway is simple: if the leak is accurate, the company may be aiming to solve one of the most visible compromises in today’s foldable category. A less noticeable crease has become a major talking point for premium foldables, especially as more brands try to make the inner display feel closer to a normal tablet panel when opened.
The report doesn’t confirm launch timing or final hardware, and it also doesn’t say how close Apple is to mass production. Even so, it adds to the broader picture that the next wave of book-style foldables could compete as much on hinge engineering and display finish as on raw specs.
