HMD has introduced the Nokia 200 4G, describing it as the first Nokia-branded micro-chat phone and putting it on sale at an introductory price of 199 yuan. The device is aimed at users who still prefer a classic keypad form factor but want a few communication features that feel closer to a modern smartphone experience.

The headline feature is support for HMD’s micro-chat application, which lets the phone place video calls through a companion mini program on a smartphone. That detail matters: this is not native one-tap video calling with existing WeChat contacts, but a service handled through HMD’s own mini-program workflow. HMD also says two feature phones running the same app can make video calls directly to each other.

Beyond calling, the phone also supports group chat and an electronic fence function. HMD is bundling in extra apps such as Ximalaya and Migu Music as well, giving the device a wider entertainment angle than a basic voice-and-text handset.

Hardware remains simple and very much in line with an entry-level keypad device. The Nokia 200 4G includes a 2.4-inch color display, a 1,450mAh battery, and traditional T9-style physical keys. It also comes with an FM radio, dual LED flashlights, and support for dual-SIM dual-4G connectivity.

At 199 yuan, the phone is clearly built around accessibility and practicality rather than raw performance. Even so, the mix of a familiar feature-phone design and a limited video calling mini program setup gives it a slightly more connected identity than many other low-cost devices in the same category.
