Nokia to Sell Its FWA Device Business to Inseego and Take a Larger Strategic Stake

Nokia Inseego deal is moving ahead as Nokia said on April 30 that it plans to sell its FWA CPE, or fixed wireless access customer premises equipment, business to US-based Inseego. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, though it still depends on certain terms and conditions being met.

As part of the agreement, Nokia will receive common shares and warrants in Inseego worth about $20 million, giving it an initial stake of roughly 7%. Nokia also plans to invest another $10 million in the company, which would lift its ownership to around 11% and make it a more meaningful shareholder after the deal is completed.

That means this isn’t just a simple asset sale. The companies also said they will work together on joint go-to-market efforts in 6G and wireless edge technologies. They are expected to explore broader collaboration in operator-focused 5G commercialization as well as growth opportunities tied to consumer and enterprise services in the wireless edge market.

From a business standpoint, Inseego could come out of this deal significantly larger. According to the report cited by IT Home, completing the transaction could potentially double Inseego’s revenue scale. For Nokia, the move looks like a way to streamline one business line while still keeping exposure to future upside through equity, partnerships, and a closer role in the next phase of fixed wireless and edge-network growth.
