Nubia says DeepSeek-V4 support is now live on the Z80 Ultra, and users do not need to install a new system version to get it.
The update was announced by Ni Fei, president of ZTE’s terminal business and president of Nubia Technology. He said the feature takes effect immediately on the Z80 Ultra, which means the AI upgrade is being enabled on the service side rather than through a traditional firmware rollout.
More importantly, the change is not limited to one phone. Nubia says every device running Nubia AIOS 2.0 is also being brought into the same support plan, covering the Z60, Z70, and Z80 series. That gives the announcement a much wider scope than a one-model feature test.
IT Home also points back to DeepSeek’s earlier April 24 report, when the preview release of DeepSeek-V4 first went live and was released as open source at the same time. The model was described as offering a context window that can stretch to the million-token level, while also improving agent capabilities, world knowledge, and reasoning performance in ways that put it near the front of China’s domestic and open-source field.
The report notes that DeepSeek-V4 is available in two sizes. The larger version uses a total parameter count of 671 billion with 37 billion active parameters, while the smaller edition uses 16 billion total parameters with 2.4 billion active parameters. That split is meant to balance higher-end performance needs with lighter deployment options.
For Nubia users, the key takeaway is simple: if their phone already runs AIOS 2.0, they may now have access to DeepSeek-V4 features without waiting for a full OS package update. That kind of rollout is an easier way to add new AI capabilities quickly across a broader device lineup.
