OnePlus tipped to test a 6.78-inch flat display for a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen6 Pro phone

A fresh smartphone rumor shared by IT Home says a new OnePlus-linked handset in the Snapdragon flagship tier is being tested with a 6.78-inch flat display, which could make it an early look at the brand’s next big premium model.

OnePlus tipped to test a 6.78-inch flat display for a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen6 Pro phone

The report cites tipster Digital Chat Station, who said a sub-brand device built around the SM8975 platform, described here as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen6 Pro, is now using a custom BOE LTPO panel with roughly 1.5K resolution. The screen is said to use a flat layout rather than a curved one, which lines up with the broader industry move back toward cleaner flat-panel flagship designs.

According to the leak, the panel keeps very narrow and symmetrical bezels with an LIPO-style border treatment. The frame width is estimated at around 1mm, which, if accurate, would put the device in the same conversation as other high-end phones trying to make the front face look more uniform and visually tight.

The display is also said to target a baseline refresh rate ceiling of 185Hz, with internal evaluation reportedly going as high as 240Hz. The leak further mentions a custom touch controller and BT.2020 evaluation, suggesting the screen is being positioned as a major selling point rather than just another generational spec bump.

IT Home also notes that the currently available OnePlus 15 already uses a 6.78-inch flat screen and ships with Qualcomm’s fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite platform, a 7300mAh battery, and a 50MP triple rear camera setup. That context is part of why the new leak is being interpreted as a possible next-step flagship from OnePlus.

For now, this remains a supply-chain and prototype-stage rumor, not a confirmed launch spec sheet. Still, the combination of a large flat LTPO screen, ultra-thin bezels, and an unusually aggressive refresh-rate target makes this one of the more interesting early display rumors tied to the next wave of Android flagship hardware.
