OPPO has officially introduced the OPPO Reno16 series, with pricing in China starting at 3,499 yuan before subsidies and 2,999 yuan after the current national discount. Sales are set to begin on May 29.
Design is a big part of the pitch this year. The standard OPPO Reno16 comes in three colors, measures 8.2 to 8.36mm thick depending on the finish, and weighs 188 to 191 grams. The OPPO Reno16 Pro is slimmer at 7.7 to 7.86mm and weighs 205 to 208 grams. Both models use a glass back and a metal frame, while the Pro version gets a special 3D translucent floating finish on one color option that creates a naked-eye 3D visual effect on the rear panel.
On the hardware side, the OPPO Reno16 Pro uses a 6.78-inch 2772 × 1272 flat OLED display and runs on a Dimensity 9500s chip. It also includes OPPO’s communication enhancement chip, a separate Wi-Fi acceleration chip, nano ice-crystal cooling, a 7,000mAh battery, 80W wired charging, and 50W wireless charging.
The regular OPPO Reno16 is built around a 6.32-inch 2640 × 1216 flat OLED display and is the first phone to use MediaTek’s Dimensity 8550 SUPER platform. OPPO pairs that with LPDDR5X memory, UFS 3.1 storage, the same communications and Wi-Fi support chips, nano ice-crystal cooling, a 6,700mAh battery, and 80W fast charging.
Imaging is one of the headline features for the lineup. OPPO says the phones use a 200MP camera system, paired with a 50MP periscope telephoto camera and a 50MP ultra-wide camera, while the front camera is also 50MP. On the Pro model, the main camera adds a micro-gimbal structure with up to 5 degrees of intelligent focal-plane rotation correction. OPPO also says both the main and telephoto cameras support 25MP live photos, while the ultra-wide and selfie cameras support 12MP live photos.
OPPO is also pushing a more lifestyle-focused feature set. The Reno16 series upgrades the company’s Natural Tone imaging engine for portraits, adds a feature that can combine up to 10 live or still photos into a collage-style composition, and introduces an AI key that supports one-tap screen extraction, travel-plan generation, and study-note organization in different scenarios.
Alongside the phones, OPPO also unveiled a magnetic Bubble selfie display accessory priced at 499 yuan. The lightweight add-on supports remote shooting from up to 10 meters away, can work with personalized cases as a bag charm or phone accessory, and lets users switch between static and animated wallpapers on the small screen.
