OPPO has confirmed that the OPPO Reno16 series will get its official launch event on May 25 at 6:00 p.m. local time. The announcement gives the lineup a fixed debut date after days of leak-driven speculation around the next Reno release.
According to details referenced by IT Home from earlier leak reports, what is believed to be the Reno16 Pro engineering device has been tested in white, black, purple, and green finishes. It’s said to use a 6.78-inch 1.5K LTPO flat display with narrow bezels, along with a Dimensity 9400+-class chip, a 200MP main camera, a periscope telephoto lens, and a metal mid-frame.
Those same reports say the Reno16 Pro could ship in several memory and storage versions, including 12GB + 256GB, 12GB + 512GB, 16GB + 256GB, 16GB + 512GB, and 16GB + 1TB. Battery expectations currently point to a 7,000mAh pack with 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
The standard Reno16 is rumored to take a slightly different route, using a 6.32-inch 1.5K OLED flat display, a Dimensity 8550 chip, and a 6,700mAh battery with 80W wired charging. It’s also tipped to feature a 200MP HP5 main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, a 50MP periscope telephoto camera, and a metal frame.
None of those hardware details are fully official yet, but the confirmed May 25 launch means OPPO won’t keep the Reno16 series under wraps for much longer. For now, the event date is the only part that has been formally locked in by the company.
