Xiaomi has officially introduced the REDMI K90 Max, and it’s positioning the phone as a performance-focused flagship with a built-in cooling fan, a high-refresh-rate display, and a very large battery.
The launch pricing starts at 2,999 yuan during the initial sales period for the 12GB + 256GB model. Other versions include 16GB + 256GB at 3,499 yuan, 12GB + 512GB at 3,499 yuan, 16GB + 512GB at 3,999 yuan, and a top-end 16GB + 1TB version at 4,699 yuan.
For design, the phone comes in Space Silver, Shadow Black, and Sky Blue. Xiaomi says it uses an aluminum alloy frame, very narrow bezels, and a minimalist grille layout that helps the device stand out from more typical slab phones.
What really makes the REDMI K90 Max different is its built-in fan system. Xiaomi describes it as the first phone in its lineup to ship with this kind of active cooling setup. The system uses a sealed air channel, a full-metal bearing structure, and an 18.1mm fan. The company says airflow reaches 0.42 CFM, and in its strongest cooling mode the phone can drop temperatures by 10 degrees Celsius in about 100 seconds.
Xiaomi also says the airflow design cuts down on turbulence inside the channel, helping it deliver better efficiency instead of just spinning faster for show. There are three fan modes available, and even the highest setting is rated at only 32dB, which should make the active cooling system easier to live with during gaming sessions or sustained heavy use.
On the core hardware side, the phone is powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 processor and adds Xiaomi’s D2 AI display chip. Memory goes up to LPDDR5X Ultra, while storage goes up to UFS 4.1. Xiaomi also says the phone can handle 1.5K resolution and 165Hz output simultaneously in around 100 games.
The display itself is a 6.83-inch flat panel with 1.5K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. Xiaomi says it uses M10 luminous material, supports full-brightness DC dimming, includes a game eye-comfort mode, and can go as low as 1 nit brightness for low-light use.
Battery and charging are also a big part of the package. The REDMI K90 Max uses an 8,550mAh single-cell battery and supports 100W wired charging. Other listed features include dual symmetrical speakers tuned with Bose, a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, a large X-axis motor, upgraded 400Hz gyroscope sampling, three microphones, signal enhancement chips, and IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.
For cameras, Xiaomi lists a 50MP main rear camera built around a 1/1.55-inch sensor. It isn’t framing the device as a pure camera flagship, but the hardware sheet still looks strong for a phone that is clearly centered on performance and long sessions of gaming.
Xiaomi is also making durability claims around the fan module itself. The company says the bearing system uses all-metal construction, has passed a 50,000-hour aging test, and buyers who purchase before May 5 can get a six-year fan warranty plus lifetime free cleaning. Put together, the REDMI K90 Max looks like Xiaomi’s attempt to push the gaming-phone formula further into mainstream flagship territory.
