Xiaomi 17 Max is now on open sale in China, and Xiaomi is positioning it as a large-screen flagship with a heavy focus on imaging, battery life, and sustained performance. The listed starting price after the current subsidy is 4,299 yuan.
One of the biggest selling points is the camera setup. Xiaomi says the phone uses a Leica-branded triple rear camera system built around a 200MP Leica camera. It also includes a large-sensor periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical reach, support for optical-quality lossless zoom at 6x, and close-up shooting from as near as 15cm.
The display is another major part of the pitch. Xiaomi 17 Max features a 6.9-inch flat screen with very slim, even bezels and a rounded frame design. Xiaomi says the panel uses its super-pixel technology to deliver clarity close to a 2K screen while keeping power use lower than a typical 1.5K panel. The screen is rated for up to 3500 nits of peak brightness, supports a 1-120Hz LTPO refresh range, and is protected by third-generation Dragon Crystal Glass.
Battery capacity is equally aggressive. The phone packs an 8000mAh battery and supports 100W wired charging plus 50W wireless charging. Xiaomi also says it supports the 100W PPS standard and uses in-house charging and battery-management chips.
Under the hood, the phone runs on Qualcomm’s fifth-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite platform and uses a ring-shaped cooling system tuned for a large display chassis. Xiaomi says that setup is meant to help the phone sustain high-end game performance for longer stretches.
Other details mentioned by the company include stereo speakers, an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, support for Xiaomi’s Star Communication features, 4K live photo capture, and three finishes: white, sky blue, and pixel black.
