A fresh smartphone rumor out of China points to what could be the next Honor Magic 9 series device, with early engineering details centered on a large flat screen, flagship Snapdragon silicon, and an aggressive camera setup.
According to a post shared on Weibo by tipster Digital Chat Station, a certain manufacturer is testing a new large-screen flagship on its next Snapdragon iteration track. The prototype is said to use a 6.8x-inch 1.5K flat display built with a 2.5D front glass design.
The leak also claims the engineering unit is being evaluated with a battery capacity that starts with the number 8, suggesting a very large pack by current flagship standards. On the imaging side, the main camera is reportedly being tested with a 200-megapixel sensor in a 1/1.28-inch format, while the telephoto camera is said to be another 200MP camera using a conventional large-sensor periscope design.

Other hardware details mentioned in the leak include 3D facial recognition, a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, full-power wireless charging, top-tier water resistance, and a symmetrical dual-speaker system. Those extras point to a device that is still being positioned firmly in the premium flagship segment.
In the comment section, one user asked whether the long-rumored video-focused model had finally arrived. The tipster replied that it had, adding that the hardware upgrades for video recording are substantial and would be discussed later. Another user asked about the previously rumored 2K display, and the response was that the ultra-high-refresh 2K screen belongs to a different product line identified as WIN2.
Based on the wording of the post and the surrounding speculation in the replies, Chinese tech watchers believe the device is most likely part of the upcoming Honor Magic 9 series.
For context, the previous-generation Honor Magic 8 Pro launched in October last year with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, a 6.71-inch deep-curved 1.5K display, a 7200mAh battery, and a triple 50MP rear camera system. Its starting price was listed at 5,699 yuan in China.
As always with early engineering leaks, none of these specifications are final. Still, the report paints a fairly clear picture of Honor testing a large-format flagship with upgraded battery ambitions, premium biometrics, and a camera package built to compete at the top end of the Android market.
