Third-Party Cases for Apple's Foldable iPhone Surface Early, Hinting at the Rumored Hardware Design

The first wave of third-party cases for Apple’s rumored foldable iPhone is already starting to appear online, and that usually means accessory makers think they have a reliable read on the hardware well before launch.

According to a report cited by IT Home, accessory brand iFunSmart has listed early protective cases for the device, adding fresh weight to several long-running design rumors. Case makers often build molds ahead of time using dummy units or leaked CAD files so they can be ready once a new iPhone is announced.

The product pages point to a slim body with a raised rear camera platform that appears to leave room for two lenses. They also show a circular cutout for a magnetic accessory system in the style of MagSafe. iFunSmart says the cases use built-in N52 magnets, a semi-transparent frosted finish, military-grade drop protection, a 1.5mm raised lip around the camera, and a 1mm raised edge around the display.

Just as interesting, the overall shell layout lines up with earlier rumors and dummy models. Only two rear camera openings are shown, which fits with talk that Apple may skip a dedicated telephoto lens on this first-generation device. The case also includes a cutout for the camera control button, but not for an action button. Because of the folding structure, the shell uses a segmented clasp-style design instead of a single one-piece frame.

That said, magnets inside the case don’t automatically confirm built-in MagSafe support on the phone itself. Earlier reports have suggested Apple’s foldable iPhone may not support MagSafe at all, so this detail still needs to be treated carefully.

As for the phone itself, industry chatter continues to point to a 2026 fall launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Current leaks mentioned by IT Home describe a 5.5-inch outer display, a 7.8-inch inner display, a wide folding aspect ratio, thickness of about 9.5mm when folded and 4.5mm when opened, an A20 Pro chip, 12GB of memory, two 48MP rear cameras, and side-mounted Touch ID in place of Face ID. Pricing is expected to start at roughly $2,000 if those projections hold.

None of that is official yet, of course. Still, the arrival of these early third-party cases gives one more clue about what Apple’s first foldable phone could actually look like once it reaches the market.
